Lafkos is one of the most well-preserved destinations in South Pelion, standing out for its imposing architecture and unparalleled views of the Pagasetic Gulf. At a distance of 50 kilometers from the city of Volos, the settlement charms every visitor with its cobblestone streets, stone mansions and its huge paved square, shaded by centuries-old plane trees. Here, time seems to have stopped, as the village maintains its authentic Pelion identity unaltered, far from mass tourist development. Its strategic location makes it an ideal base, offering direct access to both the peaceful shores of the Pagasetic Gulf and the wild, enchanting beaches of the Aegean Sea.
The heart of Lafkos beats in its imposing square, one of the most beautiful in South Pelion. Under the centuries-old plane trees, traditional taverns serve authentic Pelion flavors and local wine. The smell of the wood-fired oven and the tranquility of the landscape create the ideal setting for unforgettable moments of relaxation and gastronomic delight.
Start from the square with the centuries-old plane trees and follow the old cobblestone paths towards Milina or Platanias. The area is ideal for gentle hiking with natural scenery, olive groves and panoramic views.
The central square is considered one of the largest and most beautiful in Pelion. Traditional cafes, local sweets and a peaceful environment — ideal for an authentic village experience.
In 10–15 minutes you are in Milina or Horto for swimming, kayaking or boating. The waters in the Pagasitic Gulf are usually calm, suitable for relaxed sea activities.
